Installation

Install Asset References into an existing Game Creator 2 project from the Unity Asset Store.

Requirement Guidance
Unity Use the Unity version supported by the project’s Game Creator 2 installation.
Game Creator 2 Required for the settings integration, selectors, and visual-scripting extensions.
Addressables Optional for Direct references; required only when using Streamed references.

Use the Unity and Game Creator 2 versions supported by the project. Addressables is required only for Streamed references.

  1. Import Game Creator 2 and confirm the project compiles.
  2. Import the Asset References package supplied for the project.
  3. Wait for Unity to finish compiling.
  4. Open Game Creator Settings > Asset References or Tools > Skyward Games > Asset References > Database.
  5. Confirm that the Asset References repository appears.

Opening the settings panel confirms that the active repository exists and is available to builds.

Direct references do not require Addressables. If the project will use Streamed entries, install and configure Addressables before relying on those entries at runtime. The database reports Addressables Not Installed and provides an inline installation action when the dependency is missing.

Continue with Getting Started to register and select a Direct reference.
